Description

Discontinued by BD Loops. The BD-LS Loop Shield Sealant is the updated version. BD Loops Loop Goop was a one-part polyurethane resin sealant in black for sealing inductance loops in saw cuts in concrete and asphalt for door, gate, and parking applications. Sold per tube.

Loop Goop needed no mixing or heating. It sealed out moisture and resisted de-icing salts, antifreeze, gasoline, motor oil, and hydraulic brake fluid. It stayed flexible in cold weather and bonded to the loop wire and the saw-cut walls. Traffic could cross right after application.

Before You Order

  • This sealant has been replaced. For new installs, order BD-LS Loop Shield Sealant in black.
  • For sealing in freezing temperatures, see the BD-LG2 two-part polyurethane sealant.
  • A 3/16 in saw blade with BD Loops 3/16 in preformed saw-cut loops uses less sealant than a wider cut.
  • Loop sealants ship UPS Ground only, to addresses within the United States.

  • Surface Preparation: Surface should be clean. Alcohol can be used to clean the surface if necessary. Priming is not required.
  • Application: Cut the tip off the cartridge just above the nozzle threads. Thread the sealant tip onto the cartridge and place it in a quart size caulking gun. Apply from the bottom of the saw-cut groove. Slightly underfill the groove to within 1/8 in (3.12 mm) of the surface so vehicles do not track the sealant. Do not use the high speed setting on powered dispensing guns.
  • Storage: Store in a dry, cool, well-ventilated place. 1 year shelf life from date of manufacture.
  • Packaging: 30 fl oz rigid plastic caulking cartridges, compatible with standard quart tube caulking guns
  • Curing: Skins over in approximately 45 minutes at 70°F (21°C) and 50% relative humidity. Temperatures below 32°F (0°C) and/or low humidity slow skin and cure time. Strength starts to develop immediately and keeps increasing for 7 days after application. If the groove is slightly underfilled, traffic is permitted immediately after application. Not designed for installation in freezing temperatures; use BD-LG2 for cold weather installations.
  • Spills / Clean Up: Wet BD-LS can be cleaned up with rubbing alcohol. Dry BD-LS can be removed by abrading or scraping.
