DoorKing 1802 and 1802-EPD Manuals & Support

DoorKing 1802

The DoorKing 1802 is a telephone entry system for a single entry point. The 1802 serves up to 600 residents by default and up to 1,000 when reprogrammed. The 1802-EPD adds a 16-character LCD directory with A and Z scroll buttons for up to 100 residents.

Visitors call a resident, who opens the gate from a touch-tone phone. It connects by DKS cellular, VoIP or a standard phone line, and has two relays, time zones and two programmable switch inputs.

Identify your model

The 1802 and 1802-EPD use the 1862-010 control board. The 1802-092 Access Plus uses the 1970-010 board with a network port; use the 1802/1808/1810 Access Plus manual for that model.

Troubleshooting

Check power and phone line wiring first. Most other problems are programming settings.

Cannot enter programming or keypad dead

  • Check for 16.5 VAC at the power terminals.
  • Check the master code and that the keypad cable points down on the board.
  • On older boards, check that the memory chip is not installed upside down.

Buzz, howl or dial tone on the speaker

  • Check the phone line with a handset. If it is noisy, the problem is the line.
  • Check for shorts to ground, pinched wires and an ungrounded cabinet.
  • Lower the volume and adjust feedback. Use a touch-tone line, not rotary.

Strike or gate stays open

  • Check for voltage drop on the 16 VAC line and a transformer that is too small.
  • Turn off the auto relay time zone or send the deactivate command from a phone.

Entry codes do not work

  • Press # first for four-digit codes.
  • Check time zone limits and whether a flash code has expired.

Common questions

The 1802 uses directory codes on a printed list for up to 1,000 residents. The 1802-EPD has a built-in LCD directory with A and Z scroll buttons and a CALL button for up to 100 residents.

It can use a standard phone line, VoIP or DKS cellular service.

Press # before a four-digit code. Then check whether the code is limited by a time zone or was a flash code that has expired.

Mount any keypad or entry system at least 6 ft from a gate or gate operator, or where the user cannot reach the gate while using it.
