Description

The BEA SUPERSCAN-T II (10SSTII48) is a door-mounted active infrared safety sensor for automatic swinging, revolving, folding, and low-energy doors. This kit has one primary and one secondary module in a 48 in housing, measured end cap to end cap. It runs on 12 to 24 VAC or VDC.

It uses triangulation with background suppression to see people in the door path, with a detection range of 0 to 8 ft (adjustable 2 to 8 ft). Mounted on the door itself, it stays clear of carts and hospital beds. On the approach side it holds the door open or reopens it until the person clears the zone. Detection time is under 50 ms, output hold time is 0.1 to 4.5 s, and it works from -30 to 140 °F. A primary module can run up to 8 secondary modules.

Before You Order

  • Power: 12 to 24 VAC/VDC ±10%. Primary module draws 60 mA max on, 30 mA off; each secondary 40 mA on, 30 mA off.
  • Output: relay, 1 A at 30 V resistive.
  • External monitoring uses the monitoring request input (12 to 35 VDC, polarity-sensitive).
  • BEA pairs the SUPERSCAN-T with the overhead BODYGUARD-T to meet ANSI 156.10 on swing doors.
  • BEA lists a UL 10B/C 90-minute fire rating for housings 46.5 in and shorter.
  • Quick disconnect harness 10SSQD is a separate BEA accessory.
  • Other lengths: 40, 42, 44 in.
  • For a primary module only, see the SUPERSCAN-T I (10SSTI).
  • Fit to the application

Housing available up to 96 inches; can be field-cut to desired door width
  • User-defined detection zones

Detection zone of 24 to 96 inches
  • Adjustable detection zone

Can be set to background analysis mode to reduce the change of false detection
    from faulty environmental situations
  • Standards compliant

    Capable of external monitoring
  • Product Type: Door-mounted active infrared safety sensor, 1 primary + 1 secondary module
  • Technology: Active infrared, triangulation with background suppression
  • Mounting Height / Range: Detection range 0-8 ft, adjustable 2-8 ft; max mounting height 8 ft
  • Power: 12-24 VAC/VDC ±10%
  • Current Draw: Primary 60 mA max on / 30 mA off; secondary 40 mA max on / 30 mA off
  • Outputs: Relay, 1 A at 30 V resistive; hold time 0.1-4.5 s
  • Monitoring / Test Input: Monitoring request input, 12-35 VDC, polarity-sensitive
  • Operating Temperature: -30 to 140 °F

What do the jumpers do?

See “Mechanical Adjustments” section of the User’s Guide.

Why does the SUPERSCAN-T only detect when I’m standing on a ladder?

Ensure that the SUPERSCAN-T is mounted in the correct orientation (lens is facing down).

Why does the door recycle open?

The SUPERSCAN-T is detecting too far down. Adjust the range by turning the potentiometer located in between the lenses; each click represents about 4″.

Which terminals power the SUPERSCAN-T?

Terminals 7 and 8

Why is the SUPERSCAN-T behaving as if it is wired normally closed but I have it wired normally open?

The SUPERSCAN-T changes relay state on power up. For normally open operation, use terminals 5 and 6, and for normally closed operation, use terminals 4 and 6.

What adjustments can be made on the SUPERSCAN-T?

There are 3 basic mechanical adjustments:

1. Tilt angle is adjusted using the white clips in the housing.

2. Detection width is adjusted left or right by sliding the white clips in the housing.

3. Detection height is adjusted by turning the screw that moves the lenses closer together or farther apart.
