DoorKing 6300 Manuals & Support

DoorKing 6300

The DoorKing 6300 is a commercial swing gate operator in 1/2 HP and 1 HP versions. The 1/2 HP handles gates up to 18 ft and 600 lb, and the 1 HP handles gates up to 22 ft and 800 lb.

It runs on 115 VAC, with a step-down transformer for 208, 230 and 460 VAC. It has two 115 VAC convenience outlets and 24 VDC magnetic lock power, and mounts on a post or a concrete pad.

Identify your model

Model numbers 6300-080 to 6300-083 are 1/2 HP and 6300-084 to 6300-087 are 1 HP. Odd numbers are secondary units. Use the current manual for circuit board 4502-010 Rev AA or higher.

The 6100 is the lighter version, and the 6500 is the heavy-duty pad mount operator.

Troubleshooting

Find which part has the problem first: the operator, the loop system or the keying devices. The input LEDs on the control board show which inputs are active.

Operator will not run, power LED off

  • Check that power to the operator is on.
  • Check for 115 VAC at terminals 2 and 3. If the voltage is good, check the terminal strip or replace the circuit board.
  • An overheated board transformer shuts the board down. Turn power off, let it cool for several minutes and test again.

Operator will not run, power LED on

  • At least one monitored photo eye or edge must be connected in each entrapment area, with its UL 325 input switched on.
  • Jumper terminals 11 and 20 for a moment. If the input LED does not light, check the terminal strip or replace the board.
  • Test the motor directly as the manual shows. If it runs in one direction only, check the motor, motor capacitor and wiring.

Entrapment input LED on or blinking

  • LED on: the photo eye or edge has a fault or its wiring is shorted.
  • LED blinking: the device is not connected or its wiring is open.

Gate opens but will not close

  • Any input LED that stays on holds the gate open. Disconnect keying devices one at a time until it goes off.
  • An active photo eye, edge or loop detector also holds the gate open.
  • The operator may be in a soft shutdown. Activate any keying device to clear it.
  • For automatic close, check that SW 4, switch 4 is ON.

Secondary operator will not run

  • Check that SW 4, switch 7 is OFF and SW 3, switch 4 is ON.
  • Check the interconnect wiring, the secondary motor and its capacitor.

Gate opens a short distance, then reverses

  • Check that the clutch is adjusted and not slipping.
  • Disconnect the gate and check that it swings freely.
  • Watch the PULSE LEDs while the operator runs. If one does not blink, the magnetic sensor must be within 1/32 in of the counter ring, or it needs replacing.

Three-button station does not work

  • Only the DoorKing 1200-006 three-button station works with this board. Others cause a malfunction.

Common questions

The 1/2 HP handles gates up to 18 ft and 600 lb. The 1 HP handles gates up to 22 ft and 800 lb.

The secondary has no control board and runs from the primary. Protec lists a 50 ft interconnect cable with the secondary.

Yes, with the optional DoorKing 2600-266 high voltage kit. It steps the incoming voltage down to the 115 VAC the operator uses.

Yes. The operator will not run until at least one monitored photo eye or edge is connected in each entrapment area. They are not included.
