Quick Start

Troubleshooting

Find which part has the problem first: the operator, the loop system or the keying devices. The input LEDs show which inputs are active.

Operator will not run, power LED off

  • Check that power to the operator is on.
  • Check for 115 VAC at board terminals 1 and 2. If it reads 0, check the supply. If it is good, replace the board.

Operator will not run, power LED on

  • On a 1/2 HP 1601, press the reset button on the bottom of the motor. The 1 HP motor has no reset button.
  • Jumper terminals 6 and 14 for a moment. If the input LED does not light, check the terminal strip or replace the board.
  • Test the motor as the manual shows. If it does not run both ways, check the motor, capacitor and wiring.

Arm goes up but will not come down

  • Check the LEDs on terminals 6, 7 and 9. Any that stay on hold the arm up.
  • Check the loop detector LEDs. Any that stay on hold the arm up.
  • If the auto timer is off, check that SW 1, switch 6 is ON. For the down loop, check that SW 1, switch 4 is ON.

Loop detector LED stays on

  • Press the reset button on the detector, or lower its sensitivity.
  • Check the loop wire to ground with a megohm meter. It should read 100 megohms or more. Under 50 megohms, replace the loop.
  • The lead-in must be twisted at least 6 turns per foot and all splices soldered.

Spikes do not move with the arm

  • Check the spike connections in the 1603 quick start.
  • Clear dirt and debris from the spike unit.

Common questions

No. DoorKing lists the Auto-Spike system for automotive traffic only, with no bicycles or motorcycles.

The same 1601-010 board as the 1601 and 1602.

DoorKing cannot guarantee that spikes will go through every tire, given the many tire types.
