EDI LMA-1250 Manuals & Support

EDI LMA-1250

The EDI LMA-1250 is a single channel loop detector with two relay outputs and an 11-pin rear connector. The LMA-1250-LV runs on 12 or 24 VDC or 24 VAC. The LMA-1250-HV is the 120 to 240 VAC version.

Its 7-segment DEFLECTOMETER display shows the detection level, so you can set sensitivity to catch every vehicle. It also shows loop frequency and fault codes.

Identify your model

The model is on the side label. LV models run on 10 to 40 VDC or 14 to 35 VAC. HV models run on 120 to 240 VAC. The LMA-1250S models are fail secure versions. The LMA-1250 replaces the discontinued LMA-100-LV, LMA-200-LV and LMA-1150-LV.

Troubleshooting

The DEFLECTOMETER shows 0 with no vehicle and 1 to 9 during a detect. F codes show a current loop fault.

Fault codes

  • F1: open loop. Check the loop and lead-in for a break.
  • F2: shorted loop. Check for a short to ground or between wires.
  • F3: inductance changed more than 25%. Check splices and loop condition.
  • Normal display with a flashing fault LED means a past fault that cleared.

Setting sensitivity

  • For mid-size cars and small pickups, set sensitivity so the DEFLECTOMETER reads 5 during the detect.
  • Read higher for high-bed trucks and motorcycles before you change the setting.

Crosstalk

  • If two loops are close together, set each detector to a different frequency with the rear DIP switches.

Low supply voltage

  • A short power LED flash every 2 seconds means the supply voltage is low. Check the 12 or 24 V supply.

Common questions

F1 is an open loop, F2 is a shorted loop and F3 is a 25% inductance change. A normal display with a flashing fault LED means the fault happened before and has cleared.

Drive a typical car over the loop and watch the DEFLECTOMETER. A reading of 5 during the detect is the target. Use the front SENS buttons to raise or lower it.

The LMA-1250-LV is fail-safe: on a loop fault or power loss, Relay A closes common to NO. Order the LMA-1250S for fail secure.

Yes. It replaces the discontinued LMA-100-LV, LMA-200-LV and LMA-1150-LV and uses a standard 11-pin harness or socket.

Use direct-burial loop wire such as 16 AWG XLPE, not THHN. Twist the lead-in about 6 turns per foot from the loop to the detector, and seal saw cuts with loop sealant.
