EMX VMD202 Vehicle Motion Detector Manuals & Support

EMX VMD202

The EMX VMD202 is a one-piece vehicle motion detector with a buried probe. It senses moving vehicles up to 12 ft away at 5 mph or more, with no saw-cut loop.

It runs on 12 to 39 VDC or 12 to 27 VAC with very low standby current, so it works well on solar gates. The optional VMD202-R remote sets 10 sensitivity levels and then unplugs to stop tampering.

Troubleshooting

False triggering

  • Check the earth ground connection.
  • Disconnect the relay wires. If false calls stop, check the probe. If they continue, test on a 12 V battery for 5 minutes; if that cures it, use a separate clean power supply.
  • Look for moving metal near the probe: fences, signs, flagpoles, power lines, motors or invisible dog fences.

No output

  • Read COM and NO with an ohmmeter. It should read open, then close when a metal tool passes over the probe.
  • Check wire connections and replace the unit if the relay does not change.

Common questions

No. It detects moving vehicles at 5 mph or more. For presence at a stop, use a loop detector or a presence sensor.

Yes. Standby current is about 70 µA.

No, but the VMD202-R lets you pick one of 10 sensitivity levels. It unplugs after setup and the setting is kept.
