    Finding the Right Security Brands Keypad or Entry System

    Keypads: Advantage, Ridge, Edge and RemotePro

    Advantage keypads are standalone code units, from the 100-code DKLP low-power models to the 1,000-code ADV-1000 and Advantage ONE, with intercom and Knox cutout versions. Ridge keypads talk to a 433 MHz transceiver at the operator, so no wire runs to the keypad post. Edge E1 to E4 are smart keypads and card readers, and RemotePro units send Wiegand output to a separate controller. More options are in keypads.

    Ascent Cellular Entry and Access Control

    Ascent systems connect over cellular, so no phone line is needed. The R1 suits single homes, the X1 and X2 handle callbox entry with a keypad or directory, and the M3 and M8 add an 8-inch touchscreen for multi-tenant sites, in surface or recess mount. The C2 and C4 control two or four doors, and the S1 Ascent Switch replaces the discontinued 25-LT. Compare systems in telephone entry intercoms.

    Credentials and Readers

    Match the card to the reader. SecurePass cards, fobs and windshield tags work with SecurePass readers such as the 40-TR1 vehicle tag reader, while HID versions of Edge, Ascent K2 and RemotePro readers accept HID prox credentials. See proximity cards and readers.
