Linear AE-500 Manuals & Support

The Linear AE-500 is a telephone entry and access control system for gated communities, garages, offices and apartments with up to 250 residents or users.

It has two form C relays, a built-in MegaCode radio receiver for transmitters, two request-to-exit inputs and a backlit two-line directory. It is programmed from the keypad, a touch-tone phone or a computer with a modem and web browser.

The AE-500 has a stainless steel faced cabinet with a side-lit 12-key keypad and a two-line directory display. The TR-500 trim ring fits it for recessed mounting.

Troubleshooting

Check power and the phone line first. Most other problems are programming settings.

System completely dead

  • Check voltage at the transformer and at the power terminals.
  • Check that the terminal blocks are plugged firmly into the board.

Buzz on the speaker or phone line

  • Check for AC power shorted to the wiring conduit and for the phone line shorted to ground.
  • Use twisted pair phone wire and connect the cabinet to earth ground.
  • Remove the 16 VAC wires. If the buzz stops, one transformer wire is grounded.

Resident phone does not ring

  • Check the resident phone number in programming.
  • Check the entry system phone line, then call the resident from another phone.

Keypad will not activate a relay

  • Check that the entry code is assigned and set for the right relay.
  • The keypad may be in lockout from wrong codes. Wait for it to clear.
