DoorKing 6006

The DoorKing 6006 is a 24 VDC linear actuator for residential and light commercial swing gates. It bolts to the gate and pilaster, so no concrete pad is needed.

It runs from a DoorKing 4302 control box, 115 VAC or solar, with battery backup. The 6006 is UL 325 Class I and II and opens 90 degrees in 18 to 20 seconds.

Identify your model

The 6006 is an enclosed screw drive actuator arm. The primary actuator is 6006-380 and the secondary for a pair of gates is 6006-381. The control board is in the separate 4302 control box.

Column mount operators on the same control box are the 6004 and the in-ground 6400.

Troubleshooting

The 6004, 6006 and 6400 run from a DoorKing 4302 control box. Most problems are found at the control box, not the arm.

Operator will not run, power LED off

  • Check that AC power is on and the batteries are charged.
  • Check for 24 VAC at control box terminals 19 and 20. If it is good, check the terminal strip or replace the board.

Operator will not run, power LED on

  • At least one monitored photo eye or edge must be connected in each entrapment area, with its UL 325 switch on.
  • Jumper terminals 1 and 2 for a moment. If the input LED does not light, replace the board.
  • Check the fuses.
  • Test each arm by jumping the battery terminals to the motor terminals of its connector, then swap the wires. It should run both ways.

Gate opens a short distance, then reverses

  • Check the reversing sensitivity.
  • Disconnect the arm and check that the gate swings freely.

Gate opens but will not close

  • Any input LED that stays on holds the gate open.
  • Check photo eyes, edges and loop detectors.
  • For automatic close, check that SW 1, switch 4 is ON.

Works on and off

  • Main terminal 3 supplies 250 mA at most. Add up the draw of everything powered from it.
  • Replace the batteries about every two years.

Alarm sounding or chirping

  • This is a hard shutdown. Unlock the control box with the key, check the gate area, then press RESET or turn power off and back on.

Common questions

No. The actuator bolts to the gate and the pilaster. The control box mounts separately.

The 6006-380 is the primary actuator. The 6006-381 is the secondary actuator for the second leaf of a dual gate.

Yes. Use the 4302 solar control box. It runs the actuator from two 12 V batteries charged by a 24 V solar panel.

Yes. The operator will not run until at least one monitored photo eye or edge is connected in each entrapment area. They are not included.
