EMX ULT-PLG Manuals & Support

EMX ULT-PLG

The EMX ULT-PLG is a single channel plug-in loop detector that plugs into a gate operator board through a 10-pin connector. It runs on 12 to 24 VDC and draws 15 mA.

It can be used in center, reverse and exit loop positions. Outputs are solid-state. Output B can be set for pulse, presence, loop fault or Detect-On-Stop.

Identify your model

The ULT-PLG is a small board with a 10-pin female connector, a rotary sensitivity switch and an ULTRAMETER display. It is for operators with a 10-pin plug-in detector port. For an 11-pin socket, see the MVP D-TEK or ULT-MVP-2.

Troubleshooting

The green LED shows power and loop faults. The red LED shows detect. The ULTRAMETER shows the sensitivity a vehicle needs.

Green LED

  • On: normal operation.
  • Fast flash: shorted or open loop now.
  • Two fast flashes repeating: a past loop fault.

Missed or false detects

  • Hold a vehicle on the loop and set the sensitivity to the ULTRAMETER number. Most sites run 3 or 4.
  • Turn on ASB (DIP 8) to keep high-bed vehicles detected.
  • If the reading moves with the loop empty, change the loop frequency to stop crosstalk.

Frequency count

  • The red LED flashes the loop frequency, one flash for each 10 kHz, then the detector retunes.

Common questions

It fits operators with a 10-pin plug-in loop detector port. Check the operator manual for the port and pinout before you order.

No. Outputs are solid-state open collector outputs that the operator board reads directly.

Most sites run 3 or 4. Drive a vehicle onto the loop and set the switch to the number the ULTRAMETER shows.

Use direct-burial loop wire such as 16 AWG XLPE, not THHN. Twist the lead-in about 6 turns per foot from the loop to the detector, and seal saw cuts with loop sealant.
