Description
The EMX IRB-EXP is an explosion-proof thru-beam infrared photoeye for automatic operators in hazardous locations. It has a range of up to 115 ft, runs on 12-24 VDC or VAC, and serves as a safety, reversing or opening input.
The housing is copper-free aluminum with an epoxy finish, rated NEMA 4 and 7, NEC Class I Groups B, C and D, and Class II Groups E, F and G, with CSA and CENELEC EExd IIC certification. The beam is modulated infrared with no focusing lens, which cuts the effect of sunlight, fog, rain, dust and dirt. A 24° sensing angle eases alignment, and a potentiometer sets the range to the site. Output is a Form C relay (NO, COM, NC) rated 1 A at 24 VDC or 120 VAC.

- Operating temperature: -40° to 170°F. Unit size: 3.4 x 4.5 x 4.7 in.
- Wiring in a classified area must follow the NEC rules for that class and group, including sealed conduit fittings.
- EMX does not list the IRB-EXP as a UL 325 monitored device. Check your operator's entrapment input requirements.
