    Choosing BD Loops Preformed Loops and Supplies

    Reading BD Loops Part Numbers

    The letters give the loop style and the two numbers give the perimeter and the lead-in length in feet. An SC 24-50 is a saw-cut loop with a 24' perimeter, laid out as 4'x8' or 6'x6', and a 50' lead. SC loops come with 20', 50' or 100' leads, RL loops with a 40' lead, and EL loops with 60' or 100'. Measure the run from the loop to the detector so the lead reaches without a splice.

    Saw-Cut or Direct Burial

    Pick an SC loop when you are cutting a slot into existing concrete or asphalt. RL and EL loops are direct burial loops, set in place before pavement is poured or under pavers and base. Pair any of them with a detector from loop detectors, and compare other sizes in preformed loops.

    Sealants and Tools

    BD-LS Loop Shield, in black or gray, replaces Loop Goop for sealing saw cuts. BD-LG2 is a two-part polyurethane that dispenses with the LG2-GUN. The 14" Pro Diamond and 7" SB-B7 blades cut the slot, the pizza wheel presses wire into it, and the water-tight splice kit protects lead connections. The BD-Megger checks loop insulation and the E-Z Detector Checker helps confirm a detector is responding.
