DoorKing 4302 Control Box Manuals & Support

The DoorKing 4302 is the control box for the 6004, 6006 and 6400 swing gate operators. It holds the circuit board, the backup batteries and the power switch.

It comes as a 115 VAC box, standard or deluxe, and as a solar box that charges two 12 V batteries from a 24 V panel. Both send 24 VDC to the gate operators.

Identify your model

Current boxes use circuit board 4302-018. Use the 4302-065 manual for the 115 VAC box and the 4302-067 manual for the solar box.

Operator pages: 6004, 6006 and 6400.

Quick Start

Troubleshooting

The 6004, 6006 and 6400 run from a DoorKing 4302 control box. Most problems are found at the control box, not the arm.

Operator will not run, power LED off

  • Check that AC power is on and the batteries are charged.
  • Check for 24 VAC at control box terminals 19 and 20. If it is good, check the terminal strip or replace the board.

Operator will not run, power LED on

  • At least one monitored photo eye or edge must be connected in each entrapment area, with its UL 325 switch on.
  • Jumper terminals 1 and 2 for a moment. If the input LED does not light, replace the board.
  • Check the fuses.
  • Test each arm by jumping the battery terminals to the motor terminals of its connector, then swap the wires. It should run both ways.

Gate opens a short distance, then reverses

  • Check the reversing sensitivity.
  • Disconnect the arm and check that the gate swings freely.

Gate opens but will not close

  • Any input LED that stays on holds the gate open.
  • Check photo eyes, edges and loop detectors.
  • For automatic close, check that SW 1, switch 4 is ON.

Works on and off

  • Main terminal 3 supplies 250 mA at most. Add up the draw of everything powered from it.
  • Replace the batteries about every two years.

Alarm sounding or chirping

  • This is a hard shutdown. Unlock the control box with the key, check the gate area, then press RESET or turn power off and back on.

Common questions

DoorKing says about every two years on average. Weak batteries cause slow or erratic operation.

Check the load on main terminal 3. It supplies 250 mA at most, and too many accessories on it cause problems that come and go.

Unlock the box with the key, check the gate area, then press RESET or turn the power off and back on.
