EMX D-TEK Loop Detectors Manuals & Support

EMX D-TEK

The EMX D-TEK is an 11-pin plug-in vehicle loop detector in an aluminum housing. Versions run on 115 VAC, 12 VDC or 24 VAC.

It has 10 sensitivity settings, delay and extend, fail-safe or fail-secure, automatic sensitivity boost, loop diagnostics with a frequency counter and pulse or two presence relay operation.

Troubleshooting

LEDs

  • Green on: powered. Red on: vehicle detected.
  • Green blinking: the loop is shorted or open now.
  • Green with two fast blinks: a past loop fault that cleared.
  • Red blinking at start of detect: filter on. At end: extend on. During detect: 4 minute limited presence.

Green LED off

  • Check voltage on pins 1 and 2, the internal fuse and the wiring.

Loop faults or stuck in detect

  • Loop resistance on pins 7 and 8 should be 0.5 to 5 ohms and steady while driving over the loop.
  • Megger the loop to ground. It should read over 100 megaohms.
  • Check splices are soldered and sealed and terminals are tight.

Intermittent calls

  • Check for crosstalk with nearby detectors and change the frequency on one of them.

Common questions

Match the operator accessory power: 115 VAC, 12 VDC or 24 VAC. For one detector that runs on several voltages, use the MVP D-TEK.

Use direct-burial loop wire such as 16 AWG XLPE, not THHN. Twist the lead-in about 6 turns per foot from the loop to the detector, and seal saw cuts with loop sealant.

Between 0.5 and 5 ohms, and over 100 megaohms to ground.
