HySecurity StrongArmPark DC Manuals & Support

HySecurity StrongArmPark DC

The HySecurity StrongArmPark DC is a 24 VDC electromechanical barrier arm operator for parking lanes. The DC 10 runs arms up to 10 ft and the DC 14 runs arms up to 14 ft.

It has a HyProtect breakaway arm bracket with a kill switch, dynamic reversing and standard battery backup. The DCS models run on solar.

Identify your model

The model is on the operator label: DC10, DCS10, DC14 or DCS14. DCS models are solar powered. All run on the Smart DC Controller with a 32-character display.

The hydraulic StrongArm (HTG 320) is a different operator. See the StrongArm support page.

Troubleshooting

Codes show on the display and the buzzer chirps. An Alert clears with a new Open or Close command. A Fault clears with the Stop or Reset button. An Error clears only with the Reset button or by cycling power.

SAFE MODE or ENTRAPMENT MODE

  • Safe Mode means the edge or inherent sensor tripped. The close timer is off until the next command.
  • Entrapment Mode means a second trip while in Safe Mode. Remove the obstruction and give an Open, Stop or Reset command.
  • Check for binding hardware or wind load if the alert comes back with no obstruction.

Power and battery

  • NO AC POWER: check the breaker, the AC power switch on the operator and the supply wiring.
  • LOW 24VDC shows below 22 V. Below 21 V the controller does not work normally. Check AC power, battery connections, battery condition, the charger and the transformer.

ACTION BLOCKED

  • ACTION BLOCKED PHOTO EYE CLOSE or OPEN means that eye shows tripped. Clear the beam, realign it and check the N.C. wiring to SENSOR COM.
  • Make sure the sensor settings match the devices installed.

Inputs

  • Input LEDs on the Smart DC Controller show which inputs are active. On solar units, hold the Tact button to light them.
  • The event log under the User Menu lists past alerts, faults and errors with date and time.

Breakaway arm

  • If a vehicle knocks the arm off, the kill switch stops arm motion. Reset the breakaway bracket and check the kill switch harness.

Common questions

An alert clears with a new Open or Close command. A fault clears with the Stop or Reset button. An error clears only with the Reset button or by cycling power.

It uses two 12 V, 8 Ah AGM batteries (HySecurity MX002008 kit). They give up to 1,000 cycles after an AC power loss. When they run down, the operator fails open or fails secure based on its setting.

Operators built to UL 325-2016 need monitored entrapment sensors wired to the SENSOR inputs and set in the installer menu before the gate will close automatically. Check for a tripped photo eye or edge and any active open or loop input.

Software h5.52 and later keeps an event log in the User Menu with the date and time of each alert, fault and error. Older software needs a laptop with the free S.T.A.R.T. software.

No. Order the oval aluminum arm in 10, 12 or 14 ft to match the operator.
