Description
The Reno A&E PLH-42-50 is a prefabricated inductive loop and lead-in assembly for new hot-asphalt overlay or poured concrete. It is sized for a 6 ft x 15 ft rectangular loop (42 ft perimeter) with a 50 ft lead-in cable. The loop cable, lead-in and splice enclosure arrive joined and tested, so there are no field splices at the loop.
Loop and lead-in cables are a low-profile 0.360 in OD to resist reflective cracking in asphalt. Wire insulation and cable jackets are cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), and the cables are filled with water block gel. The splice enclosure is high-impact, glass-impregnated plastic with soldered, sealed and tested connections. Reno A&E puts typical detection height at about 2/3 of the shortest loop side, roughly 4 ft on this 6 ft wide loop. Covered by a 10-year limited warranty.

Before You Order
- Model format is PLH-perimeter-lead: PLH-42-50 is a 42 ft perimeter loop with a 50 ft lead-in.
- Asphalt: set the loop on the base lift, hold it with mastic tape or corner brackets, and cover the loop and splice with at least 1 in of asphalt before heavy equipment drives on it.
- Concrete: hold the loop at least 2 in above the rebar on 1/2 in poly support tees and 3/8 in rebar, with no more than 2 ft of cable unsupported. Support tees are sold separately.
- Not for saw cutting into existing pavement. Use a Reno A&E PLA or PLB loop for saw-cut retrofits.
- For dirt or gravel with no pavement, use the PLH-R direct-burial version.
- Requires a vehicle loop detector, sold separately.
